Now We Are 800

The Friends of Charles Darwin have their 800th member. He is Ian Phillips of Manchester, England.

One of Ian's ancestral relatives was named John Skinner. He was Charles Darwin's coachman. I have just found 'John the Coachman' in a late 1870s photograph of Down House staff that appears in Desmond and Moore's book, Darwin (Amazon UK|US).

Cool!

Writer and photographer Richard Carter, FCD is the founder of the Friends of Charles Darwin. He lives in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.WebsiteFacebookTwitterNewsletterBooks
