Hello, Republic of Nauru!

I am delighted to announce that the Friends of Charles Darwin have their first member from the Republic of Nauru: Xavier Barker of Aiwo. A very warm welcome to you, Xavier!

I must confess, to my great shame, that I had not even heard of the Republic of Nauru, but it turns out to be the world's smallest island nation, being just 8.1 square miles in area. How cool is that?

Writer and photographer Richard Carter, FCD is the founder of the Friends of Charles Darwin. He lives in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.WebsiteFacebookTwitterNewsletterBooks

“…wonderfully droll, witty and entertaining… At their best Carter’s moorland walks and his meandering intellectual talk are part of a single, deeply coherent enterprise: a restless inquiry into the meaning of place and the nature of self.”
