Book review: ‘The Single Helix: A Turn Around the World of Science’ by Steve Jones

Short science essays from the famous geneticist and snail man.

The Single HelixThese essays are mainly taken from Steve Jones's regular Daily Telegraph column. They cover all aspects of science, not just Jones's specialist area. Being based on a newspaper column, they tend to be a bit too short for my liking, but they are well written and often amusing.

A fun read.

“…wonderfully droll, witty and entertaining… At their best Carter’s moorland walks and his meandering intellectual talk are part of a single, deeply coherent enterprise: a restless inquiry into the meaning of place and the nature of self.”
