The Young Charles Darwin is one in an ongoing series of DVDs entitled Shropshire Connections from local video production company CAM3 Media. It covers the life of Charles Darwin from his childhood in Shrewsbury to his return in 1836 from the Beagle voyage.

Using a mixture of actors, narrators and archive images, the video describes Darwin's early life in and around Shrewsbury, with many of the scenes filmed in their original locations. It is very well-researched, and, thanks to its Shropshire base, contains a number of interesting, local snippets not picked up on in the standard Darwin biographies. At a mere £6.95, I'd say it's a real bargain.
